Rahul Dravid said on Friday that there is a possibility that star opener Shubman Gill could play in India's opening match against Australia in the Men's Cricket World Cup.
There is uncertainty over Shubman Gill's availability for India's World Cup opener as he is suffering from high fever.
The 24-year-old opener also didn't attend team's three-hour practice session at Chepauk on Thursday afternoon.
«He's under the weather, the medical team is closely monitoring him. We are hoping he gets better soon.
We will have to wait on more updates from the medical team,» a BCCI official had said earlier.
Talking about Gill's condition, India coach Rahul Dravid told the ICC's official website that the opener is yet to be ruled out of the contest.
“He’s certainly feeling better today," Dravid said on Friday.
«The medical team is monitoring on daily basis. We have 36 hours, we’ll see what decision they take.
He’s certainly feeling better today.”
Dravid further asserted that the right-hander was still in contention to play.
“Medical team hasn’t ruled him out as yet,» Dravid said.
«We’ll keep monitoring him on a day to day basis. We’ll see how he feels day after tomorrow.”
