Siddaramaiah on Thursday urged Union Steel & Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy to resign from the Cabinet over approving 550 acres of forest land to an ‘unregistered company’ and face trial.
He “now sheds tears, claiming, the signature isn't mine; it was forged,” the CM posted on X in continuation of a bitter war of words between the two top political leaders in Karnataka.
Siddaramaiah took potshots at Kumaraswamy demanding his resignation over the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) alternative site allotment case though there was neither a note from him nor his signature. And the allotment did not take place during his tenure either. “Yet you demand my resignation?”
Justice N Santosh Hegde, as the Lok Ayukta, investigated and filed a chargesheet, the CM said referring to the mining scams that rocked the State many years ago. The CM referred to Kumaraswamy’s alleged role in favouring Sri Sai Venkateshwara Minerals to take up mining at Sandur in Ballari and said only the Governor’s nod for prosecution remained. “What are you waiting for? Narendra Modi to save you? The same party that sent its own Chief Minister to jail — do you think they’ll come to your rescue?”
Addressing the Governor, Siddaramaiah said while he approved his prosecution based on hearsay, Kumaraswamy’s ‘mining scandal documents are now public. Perhaps you should send a copy to your superiors so they may allow you to grant permission to file a chargesheet against Kumaraswamy.”
