Mizoram witnessed a voting percentage of over 75 percent. It was incident-free polling.
Election officials are expecting the turnout to cross 80 percent after reports from all districts were received. Around 80.82 percent was recorded in the 2013 assembly polls while 80.03 percent in the 2018 elections.
Mizoram Additional Chief Electoral Officer H Lianzela said that voting like in previous years has been peaceful, incident-free and there has been no law and order-related problem till now".
“Due to malfunctioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) in a few polling stations initially caused some delay in balloting.
The officials immediately replaced the EVMs and voting resumed,” an election official said.
Chief Minister Zoramthanga could not cast his vote in his first attempt due to the snag in the EVM in the Ramhlun Venglai Primary School polling station in the Aizawl North II constituency and returned home.
