Namma Yatri will kick off subscription fees for drivers on its platform, starting September 1.
Auto rickshaw drivers in Bengaluru will have the option to either pay Rs 25 per day for unlimited trips, or Rs 3.5 per trip for up to 10 trips per day, beyond which the trips will be free, the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) enabled firm said in a statement on Tuesday.
Drivers opting for the daily payment option of Rs 25 don’t have to pay on days they don’t take more than one ride through the platform. The firm is “committed to maintaining this fee structure for one year and actively exploring further price reductions in the future,” Shan MS, chief growth officer of Juspay, which developed the mobility app, said in a statement.
On average, auto drivers on Namma Yatri earn between Rs 150 to Rs 160 per trip currently without the subscription in effect, a spokesperson for the firm told ET.
Average daily earnings stand at around Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000.
“We did multiple surveys over the last few months with auto drivers across the city to decide on a sustainable fee… about two weeks ago, we started reaching out to auto drivers about this, and we’ve already seen 35,000 drivers opt in organically,” the spokesperson added.
Namma Yatri gained considerable traction over the past year in Bengaluru as it offered its services to auto drivers for zero commissions. This was in contrast to about 20% commission charged by other platforms.
