The prime minister said all the numerous world leaders he met with over the past decade have praised the Indian diaspora for their social values and contributions to their respective societies.
As part of the event, Modi remotely flagged-off the inaugural journey of the Pravasi Bharatiya Express-a special tourist train for the diaspora that will travel to multiple destinations of touristic and religious importance across the country over three weeks. Departing from the Nizamuddin Railway Station in New Delhi, the train's stops include Ayodhya, Patna, Gaya, Varanasi, Mahabalipuram, Rameswaram, Madurai, Kochi, Goa, Ekta Nagar (Kevadia), Ajmer, Pushkar and Agra.
Emphasising the potential of heritage tourism, the prime minister urged the diaspora to connect the world with the country's heritage by visiting smaller towns and villages and sharing their experiences to show the world that India is not limited to metros and big cities.
Modi also urged the diaspora to utilise the Gift City ecosystem for financial services and investment needs and opportunities.
