The BSE Sensex was trading 196 points or 0.27% lower at 72,946. Nifty50 was trading at 22,158, down 55 points or 0.25% at around 9.20 am.
From the Sensex pack, Asian Paints, Titan, Tech Mahindra, Axis Bank, and Wipro opened with cuts, while L&T, Power Grid, UltraTech Cement, M&M, and Tata Steel opened with gains.
Among individual stocks, Mahindra Holidays & Resorts rose over 5% in early trade as the firm planned to invest up to Rs 4,500 crore in the next three to four years to double its room capacity to 10,000.
Smallcap firm Skipper opened over 13% higher after the firm secured an order worth Rs 737 crore from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) for design, supply and construction of a cutting-edge 765 kV transmission line for the central PSU.
