New Zealand bird has become a record-setter for being sold for a $20,000-plus amount. The auction house handling the sale named 'Webb's Auction House' has said that the feather from the extinct huia bird, smashed all estimates to become the world's most expensive feather to be sold, according to 'The Mirror' report.
According to New Zealand's Webb's Auction House' statistics, the feather was sold for about USD 28,400, which stands for NZD 46,521. New Zealand Dollar or NZD is the local currency of the country.

Webb has also reported that the feather of a huia bird is extremely popular and expensive as it was a mark of high status and was used for ceremonial headdresses. The last officially spotted huia bird feather was sold for about $5,100, the price of which has now increased more than five times.
The huia bird feather not only held cultural significance in New Zealand in the early times but it was also used for trading. Like a barter system tradition practiced in the earlier days, these feathers were often traded for other valuable goods or given as gifts to demonstrate friendship, camaraderie, and respect.
The head of decorative arts at Webb’s Auction House claimed that the feather in question is a «beautiful example of Aotearoa’s natural history and reminds us of the fragility of our ecosystem,» according to his statement. As
