Kangana Ranaut also had her share of accidents and narrow misses while learning how to drive. In a recent media interaction, the actress-politician revealed that she hit an autorickshaw during her first attempt to earn a driver’s license. She also admitted that it was her peer Deepika Padukone who inspired her to obtain a license.
In an interview withMashable India, the ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ star said that the sight of Padukone driving her SUV effortlessly was what eventually inspired her to take her driving lessons seriously.
“I’ve tried learning to drive so many times, but both times I went for my driving test, I ended up hitting something. Deepika Padukone and I entered Bollywood around the same time—her debut was in 2007, and mine was in 2006. We were even in the same driving school back then, both living in Bandra at the time,” she revealed.
Ranaut also revealed she had failed her first driving test. “The first time I took the driving test, I drove my Santro out and ended up hitting an autorickshaw. The driver came out, yelling, and I realized I had pressed the accelerator instead of the brake—twice! The auto driver got so scared he ran away, probably thinking, ‘This woman is crazy.’ After that, I gave up on driving.”
However, later, she saw the ‘Piku’ star driving her SUV with practiced ease and decided to master driving. However, her second attempt also went wrong.
