Lil Wayne, Doja Cat and Kelsea Ballerini are set to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on September 12. Anitta and Tomorrow X Together will also perform, joining artists Demi Lovato, Karol G, Måneskin and Stray Kids.
Lil Wayne will perform «Kat Food,» his new single, for the first time at the VMAs after more than a decade. He's nominated for best hip-hop, a category he won in 2008.
Doja Cat returns after hosting and performing in 2021. She's up for five awards, including video of the year and artist of the year.
Kelsea Ballerini will premiere a performance from her EP «Rolling Up the Welcome Mat (for Good).» It's her first VMA performance.
Anitta will perform hits from her latest release, «Funk Generation: A Favela Love Story.» She won a Moon Person trophy last year and aims for another win in the best Latin category.
Tomorrow X Together (TXT) will debut a new single with Anitta. They're also nominated for best K-pop and push performance of the year. MTV plans to announce more performers soon.
Shakira will receive the Video Vanguard Award and perform as previously announced.
Taylor Swift leads with eight nominations, followed by SZA with six; Doja Cat, Kim Petras, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo, and Sam Smith with five each. Blackpink, Diddy, and Shakira have four each.
The VMAs 2023 will air live from New Jersey’s Prudential Center at 8 p.m. ET on September 12. Fans vote for the awards.
