After days of severe rainfall in the city, Mumbai will witness heavy rainfall on Saturday. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued orange alert for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri. Moreover, a red alert has been issued in Palghar district.
Heavy rainfall and waterlogging also caused delay in Mumbai local trains operation and caused traffic jams. More than 100 local trains have been cancelled, and the city is facing extensive traffic jams. There will be a jumbo block on Sunday from 23 July 2023 on UP and Down Local Lines between Vaasi Road and Virar from 12:30 am to 4 am.
However, the Western Railway zone made it clear that there will be no day block on the route and the maintainence work will be done overnight. “NO DAY BLOCK OVER WR ON SUNDAY, 23.07.2023. WR to undertake a Block on UP & DOWN slow lines frm 00.30 to 04.00 hrs during the night of 22nd/23rd July, 2023 btwn Vasai Rd & Virar stns to carry out maintenance work of tracks, Signalling & Overhead equipment," tweeted WR.
