Metro Line 3 project, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi next week. This marks a significant milestone for the city's transportation system, as it will launch the Aqua Line's first phase. The 12-kilometer stretch connects Aarey Colony to Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and will feature 10 operational stations.
The Metro Line 3 project covers a total corridor length of 33.5 kilometers, with a completion date expected by March 2025. Once fully operational, the line will have a total of 27 stations and will serve commuters with operational hours from 6:30 AM to 10:30 PM on weekdays and 8:30 AM to 10:30 PM on weekends.
Train operations will include nine rakes making 96 trips each day, with each eight-car train accommodating around 2,500 passengers. Trains will be operated by 48 train captains, with the capability to run driverless.
The partial launch of the Metro 3 corridor is expected to have a positive impact on travel within the city. Stations along the route will connect key areas like Santacruz, Marol, and Ghatkopar, helping to alleviate road congestion in high-traffic locations, particularly in the western suburbs.
The Aqua Line will provide essential connections for commuters, linking southern, central, and western parts of Mumbai. Key locations along the route include Nariman Point, Mumbai Central, Worli, Dadar, and a direct connection to Mumbai International Airport.
