Mumbai-Pune Expressway today for six hours, from 11am to 5pm. As per a TOI report, this restriction is due to construction work being carried out by the Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation Ltd on the Panvel-Karjat suburban rail corridor.
Assistant Police Inspector Yogesh Bhosale told TOI that traffic will be diverted at the Panvel exit to travel along the old Mumbai-Pune highway (NH48) via Karanjade and reach Kalamboli circle before heading towards Mumbai.
Vehicles traveling from Pune to Mumbai on NH48 will also be diverted at the Shedung junction, bypassing the Borle toll plaza to reach Panvel.
In other news, a new Foot Over Bridge (FOB) has been commissioned at Kurla suburban station in Mumbai. The FOB, costing Rs 10.6 crore, is 8 meters wide and approximately 80 meters long.
It features 44 columns supporting four spans and has five staircases connecting platforms 1 to 8. This initiative is part of the railway's commitment to improving amenities for passengers, according to the Central Railway chief spokesperson.
Furthermore, Mumbai will receive 27 new air-conditioned (AC) local trains on the Central and Western Railways, with 10 on CR and 17 on WR. This increase in AC trains is in response to the demand for more such trains and improved frequency during peak hours.
