Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray who heads his own faction of the Shiv Sena and Congress leaders on Wednesday held a meeting of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in order to fine tune preparations for the INDIA Bloc meet. The anti-BJP coalition called INDIA will see opposition leaders coming to Mumbai on August 31 for a two-day meet.
The meeting was mainly held on the issue of travel arrangements and logistics for the visiting opposition leaders.
26 parties opposed to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have come together to form the INDIA alliance. The opposition leaders will be kept at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Santacruz.
The review meeting for the two-day meet also saw Congress leaders Ashok Chavan, Milind Deora, Varsha Gaikwad, Sanjay Raut and Aaditya Thackeray from the Uddhav group and Supriya Sule from the NCP attending the meet. Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar are to hold a joint press conference on August 30 where they would declare the schedule of the INDIA meet a day before the event.- OPB
