Shah Rukh Khan is making waves with his latest movie, Jawan, which has already minted over Rs 150 crore worldwide. Often referred to as the «King of Bollywood, he has won hearts worldwide with his iconic roles and charismatic presence on the Indian silver screen.
Despite his global popularity, SRK has never ventured into Hollywood cinema, leaving fans curious about what might have been.
The King Khan had some years ago revealed the reason for not venturing into Hollywood.
In 2011, Shah Rukh Khan revealed an intriguing offer he received from the late Hollywood director Tony Scott, renowned for helming blockbusters like „Top Gun,“ „Days of Thunder,“ and „True Romance.“ Scott had proposed a superhero movie centered around the Hindu god Lord Hanuman.
During a conversation with film critic Taran Adarsh, SRK disclosed that Tony Scott had shared the concept with him many years ago, even before superhero films like „Superman“ and „Batman“ gained prominence. The movie envisioned Lord Hanuman as a superhero, with his tail transforming into a formidable weapon for combat.
SRK expressed admiration for the fantastic presentation of the idea. However, for reasons unknown, the project never materialized.
Tragically, Tony Scott passed away in 2012.
When asked why he had never explored Hollywood further, Shah Rukh Khan candidly addressed the question at the 2008 Berlin Film Festival. He humbly mentioned, „My English is not good, if they give me a role of a dumb person who doesn’t speak, maybe then there’s a possibility.“ He acknowledged his age and physical attributes, highlighting that he didn't possess any unique selling points (USPs) as an actor in Hollywood.
