Navratri has reached its conclusion as devotees across the country celebrate the auspicious occasion of Maha Navami, the ninth and final day of this nine-night festivities.
Falling on October 23, 2023, this day holds immense significance as it marks the worship of Goddess Siddhidatri, the divine bestower of spiritual accomplishments and blessings.
Maa Siddhidatri, a manifestation of Adi-Parashakti, appeared from the left half of Lord Shiva when he worshipped the supreme Goddess of Power. She embodies strength and direction, guiding the cosmic forces and granting Siddhis, spiritual accomplishments, to her devotees. Lord Shiva himself attained his Siddhis through her grace.
With four arms holding a mace, Sudarshan chakra, lotus, and 'shankh', she sits regally on a lotus, riding a lion. Devotees revere her with profound devotion and seek her blessings for enlightenment and fulfilment.
On this sacred day, Goddess Siddhidatri is believed to bless the world with her divine presence. It is a day when prayers ascend, seeking protection and guidance against adversities. According to Hindu scriptures, Goddess Siddhidatri emerged to protect the deities, bestowing them with the boon that whenever they call upon her during times of trouble, she will shield them from the forces of darkness.
Devotees rise early on Navami Tithi, cleansing themselves in a holy bath and adorning new garments. The day commences with Mahasnan, the ceremonial bath of the idols of Maa Durga and Maa Siddhidatri with Gangajal.
