The youths were arrested on Saturday after a few activists lodged a complaint alleging that the duo had posted contents claiming that Neha and Fayaz were in a relationship.
They allegedly uploaded pictures of the victim, Neha and the accused, Fayaz, with a caption, «Neha Fayaz true love, justice for love».
Neha Hiremath murder case
Neha Hiremath (23), daughter of Congress Councillor of Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation Niranjan Hiremath, was allegedly stabbed to death on the campus of BVB College on April 18. Neha was a first-year MCA student, and Fayaz was her former classmate.
The accused, Fayaz, who fled the scene, was arrested by police subsequently.
There have been protests in several parts of the state demanding capital punishment for Fayaz.
Political slugfest
The shocking murder has triggered a political slugfest in the state.
The BJP accused the Congress government of being soft on anti-social elements, which resulted in this incident as the ruling party tried to project it as an incident with a personal angle.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday said that the murder of Congress corporator's daughter Neha Hiremath in Hubballi is not a case of "love jihad" as alleged by the BJP.
The Chief Minister, while speaking to the media, hit out at the BJP and accused the party of politicizing the murder for politics.
