SCOOP, the latest biopic film portraying behind the scenes of the BBC Newsnight interview that happened with Emily Maitlis and Prince Andrew is going to be released on Netflix on April 5th, 2024 as reported by Whats on Netflix.
The new film will be an account of behind-the-scenes of the popular interview airing on BBC Newsnight on November 16th, 2019. Emily Maitlis, the veteran journalist has taken an interview of Prince Andrew addressing the increasing and recent contentions connecting him to Jeffrey Epstein.
The project was initially announced by Netflix in February 2023 happening at the same time as the feature movie which is headed for production. The project has been in progress prior to the pickup by Netflix. It was initially reported by Deadline in 2022 that Peter Moffat had developed the script with the beginning of filming in November 2022 eyeing Hugh Grant for the lead character which was later repudiated by him.
As many as four cast members have been confirmed so far for starring in the film which include Gillian Anderson from Sex Education, The Fall, The Crown playing Emily Maitlis, former lead presenter of Newsnight as well as the podcast, The News Agents for Global Radio's host. Keeley Hawes will be portraying Amanda Thirsk, Prince Andrew's former Private Secretary, Rufus Sewell as Prince Andrew, and Billie Piper as the BBC producer Sam McAlister, scoring the booking.
