Netflix announced its decision to join hands with Capcom for a new animated series based on the action series 'Devil May Cry'.It also unveiled the announcement trailer for the hack-and-slash action series. Adi Shankar will be the executive producer and Studio Mir will be handling the animation. Netflix has not announced the premiere date, but it has listed the show as 'coming soon', as per reports.
Earlier, Adi Shankar worked on Netflix’s adaptation of 'Castlevania'. Talking about his new assignment, Shankar said that he is honored that Netflix and Capcom had entrusted him to run the 'Devil May Cry' franchise. He also said that writer Alex Larsen and he love these characters. Studio MIR is known for such shows as 'The Legend of Korra', 'The Boondocks', 'Young Justice', and 'Harley Quinn'.
It is not the first time that Netflix and Capcom have collaborated, it has made many different Resident Evil projects. They are working on a Mega Man film at present. Netflix has also adapted video games, with in-development projects including Horizon Zero Dawn, Gears of War, Assassin’s Creed, and BioShock.
Launched in 2019, 'Devil May Cry' is the fifth entry in the series. Earlier, director Hideaki Itsuno tried to bring back pure action games.
'Devil May Cry will' will be deeply inspired by 2005's 'Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening'. It follows young Dante as he battles against a demonic invasion of Earth and crosses swords with his brother Vergil.
Earlier in 2007, 'Devil May Cry' was adapted into a 12-episode anime series. It was produced by the studio Madhouse (Trigun, One-Punch Man) and directed by Shin
