National Investigation Agency (NIA) apprehended a juvenile on Saturday for allegedly harbouring militants involved in the killing of five civilians in Dhangri village of Rajouri district of Jammu in January last year, said officials.
They said the juvenile was apprehended and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board in Rajouri for remand.
He was already lodged in an observation home in RS Pura of Jammu in another case registered in Poonch.
On January 1, 2023, evening, five civilians were killed in a targeted attack in Dhangri village and the next morning, two more civilians were killed in an improvised explosive device blast allegedly carried out by the attackers. At least 14 civilians were injured in the twin attacks.
The initial case was registered at Rajouri police station under sections 302, 307, 120-B, 452, 323 of the Indian Penal Code, sections 13,16,18 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, and sections 7/27 of Arms Act.
Later, NIA took over the investigation and re-registered the case.
