Nicki Minaj has rejected Kanye West's attempt to feature their «New Body» collaboration on his upcoming Vultures album with Ty Dolla $ign. The track was originally recorded in 2018 for Kanye's unreleased Yandhi album.
Yesterday, Kanye West, also known as Ye, posted on X (formerly Twitter), sharing a screenshot of a text message he sent to Nicki Minaj. In the message, he politely asked for her permission to include the track «New Body» on his upcoming album, tagging the Pink Friday 2 rapper in his post.
Soon after, Nicki Minaj took to Instagram Live to decline his proposal, explaining that the song's been around for quite a while.
«Now, when it comes to Kanye, that ship has sailed, alright?» she expressed. «I mean no disrespect at all. I just released a fresh album. Why would I drop a track that's been out for three years? Let's be real, guys.”
In October 2019, Nicki Minaj shared with The Shade Room that she was approached to re-record her verse for „New Body“ to collaborate with Kanye West's gospel album, Jesus Is King.
However, she noted a divergence in their views, expressing uncertainty about the transformation. Despite differences, Nicki emphasized her love and respect for Kanye and Kim, leaving the outcome open-ended.
The album was supposed to drop at midnight on Friday (December 15), but it hasn't shown up on streaming services yet. It's uncertain whether the delay is solely due to Nicki Minaj's refusal to clear „New Body.”
