Canadian PM Justin Trudeau's bombshell statement on Tuesday accusing the Indian government agency of killing Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June this year. “Over the past number of weeks, Canadian security agencies have been actively pursuing credible allegations of a potential link between agents of the Government of India and the killing of a Canadian citizen, Hardeep Singh Nijjar," Trudeau said on Monday.
However, India has vehemently rejected the claims and later asked a Canadian diplomat to exit the country within the next five days in a tit-for-tat move. “Such unsubstantiated allegations seek to shift the focus from Khalistani terrorists and extremists, who have been provided shelter in Canada and continue to threaten India's sovereignty and territorial integrity," the Ministry of External Affairs said in an official statement.
Officials have earlier informed the news agency PTI that Indian authorities have raised the issue of deportation of wanted terrorists at multiple security talks, however, the Canadian authorities remained non-committal. HT shared the list of 21 Khalistan elements taking shelter in Canada.
