During an event in Berlin, she asserted that the war was primarily about the government's impact on people's freedoms, emphasizing the debate over how the government would operate and regulate individual liberties.
This event was the first stop in her series of five engagements in the Granite State as she seeks to narrow the gap with Republican front-runner Donald Trump before the upcoming primary.
The ex-UN ambassador inquired about the voter's perspective on the Civil War's cause. The voter humorously replied, «I'm not running for president.»
Haley emphasized her belief in the government's role in securing people's rights and freedoms, asserting that it wasn't meant to be all-inclusive.
The voter expressed disappointment, noting her omission of slavery in her response. «In 2023, it's surprising to me that you addressed the question without referencing slavery,» remarked the voter.
Haley inquired, «What would you like me to say about slavery?»
«You've addressed my question,» he replied.
«Moving on to the next question,» Haley declared, greeted by applause from attendees.
Democrats and President Joe Biden quickly capitalized on the incident on social media. Biden shared a video of the exchange on X, stating, «It was about slavery,» through one of his campaign accounts.
As the ex-governor of South Carolina, the first state to secede during the Civil War, Haley has
