Himanta Biswa Sarma led government completing over two years in office, the chief minister has ruled out reshuffle in the council of minister before next year’s Lok Sabha polls adding that a major rejig will take place before the Assembly elections of 2026. Sarma while talking to media persons in New Delhi ruled out the possibility of a reshuffle of the state cabinet prior to the 2014 Parliamentary elections.
He was quick to add that a major rejig will take place before the Assembly elections. In May this year Sarma carried out a cabinet reshuffle.
Cabinet ministers Jogen Mohan with the portfolios of Revenue and Disaster Management and Hill Areas Development, and Nandita Gorlosa with the portfolios of Power, Cooperation, Mines and Minerals, Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture (except for Directorates of Library and Museum) were given additional responsibilities. The Department of Mines and Minerals was taken from Nandita Gorlosa and given to Assam Jogen Mohan in addition to his existing responsibilities.
Nandita Gorlosa was given the additional responsibility of the Sports and Youth Welfare department. Nandita Gorlosa will also look after the Directorate of Archaeology which comes under the Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture department.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took over over the Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture department except for the responsibilities of the Directorate of Library and Museum and the Directorate of Archaeology. Earlier the department of Sports and Youth Welfare was under the Chief Minister.
