India has been leading the fight against extremism and no religion is under threat in the country, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has said. He has also termed India an extremely responsible power, which is willing to conduct hot pursuit against terrorist havens when the need arises.
«No religion is under any threat. As a proud civilizational state, India believes in promoting tolerance, dialogue and cooperation to deal with the challenges of our time.
It was no coincidence that despite having around 200 million Muslims, the involvement of Indian citizens in global terrorism has been incredibly low,» Doval said at an India Islamic Cultural Centre event. The event was also addressed by the secretary general of the Muslim World League, Mohammad Bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, who said India has been a model of co-existence and every Indian Muslim is a proud citizen and patriot.
Al-Issa is on a visit on the invitation of the Indian government and has held consultations with top leaders. Al-Issa appreciated Indian history and diversity and said in his interactions he has observed that Indian Muslims are deeply patriotic and proud to be citizens with a secular Constitution.
