Noida Authority, RITES, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), and the irrigation department have concluded an extensive study for a novel expressway along the Yamuna. This expressway aims to serve as a bypass for the existing Noida Expressway, strategizing to accommodate the surge in population attributed to the burgeoning corporate presence and the impending Noida International Airport, scheduled to commence operations this October.
The preliminary road design is anticipated to be finalized by January 15, a TOI report stated.
The proposed 32km expressway is planned along the Yamuna Pushta Road, spanning from Sector 94 near the Delhi border at Kalindi Kunj to Sector 150, in close proximity to Greater Noida, with a connectivity link to the Yamuna Expressway. This strategic move is specifically tailored to manage the anticipated increase in traffic to and from the new airport.
Despite the 11-km stretch of the Pushta Road opening to the public in June 2014, it remains underutilized due to its suboptimal condition.
To delve into the feasibility of the new route, a nine-member committee, spearheaded by additional CEO Sanjay Khatri and comprising officials from NHAI, the irrigation department, and RITES, was established following a meeting in November last year. The committee conducted a survey on December 29, meticulously examining the cross-sectional and longitudinal details of the proposed expressway, alongside the crucial factors governing its alignment.
Khatri emphasized the collaborative effort, stating, «We have asked NHAI to submit a report on the land requirements, to determine the stretches that should be elevated.
