Traffic police explain that when one vehicle brakes slightly to change lanes, following vehicles tend to brake more abruptly to avoid collisions. This chain reaction often causes traffic to slow down or come to a standstill. Such sudden lane changes also increase the likelihood of sideswipe and rear-end collisions, a TOI report stated.
