In 2021, he returned to Mumbai and took on the role of Executive Chairman for India. Nomura Holdings also recently witnessed the departure of Utpal Oza, the India Head of Investment Banking.
Amit Thawani, the Managing Director and Head of Coverage Investment Banking, was appointed as his replacement. During his time at Nomura, Utpal Oza played a pivotal role in several important deals, including the sale of ASK Group to Blackstone and the sale of diagnostics firm Thyrocare to healthcare company PharmEasy. This development follows a previous restructuring at Nomura India earlier this year, which involved the appointment of a new Head of Equity Capital Markets in January.
Mahesh Natarajan was brought in to lead the equity capital markets division after the departure of Mangesh Ghongre, who left the company, leaving the position vacant. Natarajan previously held the role of head of the ICICI Securities equity capital markets business.
