Infosys cofounder NR Narayana Murthy has expressed regret over his decision to turn down his family members, especially his wife Sudha Murthy, to join the IT giant he set up over four decades ago.
Calling himself “wrongly idealistic”, Murthy said in an interview to a TV channel, that his wife was “more or as qualified than all seven” engineers including himself who together established Infosys, creating one of the earliest successful startups in India post liberalisation.
Meanwhile, Murthy also said that his second child Rohan Murty is stricter than him and he would “never” want to join Infosys.
“I am just a shareholder and I have not been consulted on any issue in Infosys since August 4/5 2017 when Nandan took over,” he further stated
Previously in December 2022, Murthy had admitted to an ET query about being “completely wrong” in not allowing the next generation of the promoter-founder families to take up active roles in the now Bengaluru-headquartered tech giant.
Infosys was set up by Murthy, who along with Nandan Nilekani, S Gopalakrishnan, SD Shibulal, K Dinesh, NS Raghavan and Ashok Arora, started the company in Pune in 1981.
