R Praggnanandhaa has made a name for himself.
From the country's Prime Minister to renowned businessmen, the FIDE World Cup 2023 silver medallist has been receiving praise from well-known personalities for his exceptional run at the tournament in Baku, Azerbaijan.
On Monday, billionaire business tycoon Anand Mahindra took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to announce that he will be giving an XUV4OO EV to the chess prodigy's parents Rameshbabu and Nagalakshmi.
The Chairman of Mahindra Group said that he had been receiving several requests from his over 10.7 million on the microblogging platform to gift an off-roader Mahindra Thar to Praggnanandhaa.
However, he had a better idea, he instead decided to give the teenager's parents a five-seater SUV — a Mahindra XUV400 EV. He said the proud parents deserve the country's gratitude for nurturing their son's passion and for giving him their untiring support.
Mahindra also urged Indian parents to introduce their children to cerebral games like chess and support their passion.
«I would like to encourage parents to introduce their children to chess and support them as they pursue this cerebral game (despite the surge in popularity of video games!). It's an investment in a better future for our planet, just like EVs,» he wrote in his caption.
The auto boss also looped in Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO (Auto and Farm Sector) of Mahindra & Mahindra, who later gave a thumbs-up to the 67-year-old's request.
Meanwhile, the FIDE World Cup 2023 runner-up thanked everyone for their support, especially his mother.
«Extremely elated to win the Silver medal in Fide World Cup 2023 and qualified to the Candidates 2024! Grateful to receive the love, support and prayers of each one
