OnePlus, the popular Chinese tech giant, is gearing up to make its debut in the foldable smartphone market with the launch of the much-awaited OnePlus Open.
This new foldable smartphone is all set to debut globally on October 19, with a special launch event planned in Mumbai, India, OnePlus announced.
The event will be live-streamed on social media platforms, allowing enthusiasts worldwide to witness the grand unveiling.
Kinder Liu, President, and COO of OnePlus, expressed his enthusiasm about the OnePlus Open, labeling it the «dream smartphone.»
According to Liu, this innovative device is designed to transform conventional compromises found in existing foldable devices, particularly in terms of display technology, imaging performance, and weight.
The OnePlus Open is expected to be a strong contender against Samsung's flagship foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 5. While the exact pricing details are yet to be officially confirmed, leaked information hints at a price range between Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.2 lakh in India, positioning it as a more affordable alternative to its competitors.
In terms of specifications, the OnePlus Open is set to feature Qualcomm's top-tier Snapdragon Gen 2 chipset, coupled with a whopping 12GB of RAM.
The device boasts of a 2K AMOLED inner display and a high-quality outer screen, both offering a smooth 120Hz refresh rate.
Maintaining its partnership with Hasselblad for camera technology, OnePlus plans to incorporate a sizable circular camera module supported by Hasselblad-backed cameras.
Both the cover and main displays are rumoured to feature a punch-hole camera setup, enhancing the device's imaging capabilities.
