OpenAI president Greg Brockman quits hours after CEO Sam Altman's removal

OpenAI president Greg Brockman said he is departing from the company just hours after the board fired chief executive officer Sam Altman.

Brockman, who helped found OpenAI alongside Altman, said in a post on X that he was quitting. The company had said earlier in the day that he would step down as chair of the board but remain as president, reporting to the CEO.

“I’m super proud of what we’ve all built together since starting in my apartment 8 years ago," Brockman wrote. “We’ve been through tough & great times together, accomplishing so much despite all the reasons it should have been impossible. But based on today’s news, I quit," he said.

“Genuinely wishing you all nothing but the best,” Brockman wrote in his post. “I continue to believe in the mission of creating safe (artificial general intelligence) that benefits all of humanity.”
Earlier, the OpenAI board said was parting ways with Altman, also a co-founder and one of the most prominent figures in the AI world, after losing confidence in him as a leader.


Altman posted on X shortly after OpenAI published its blog: «i loved my time at openai. it was transformative for me personally, and hopefully the world a little bit. most of all i loved working with such talented people. will have more to say about what’s next later.»
