prasad' during a religious event in Lonar, Maharashtra's Buldhana district during the 'Harinam Saptah' festival at Somthana village.
«Over 700 individuals fell ill due to food poisoning during a religious event in Buldhana, Nandurbar, and Hingoli districts. The district health departments reported that all patients are now in the process of recovery,» said All India News Radio on the recent update of food positing in Maharashtra.
Owing to the large number of patients that needed urgent treatment, a makeshift hospital was created on the road where saline bottles were seen hanging on ropes.
«A team of doctors has been deployed in the village with an ambulance and other necessary equipment in case a medical emergency arises,» Buldhana district collector Kiran Patil said. The collector added that samples of prasad which could have been the main reason for food poisoning have been sent to a laboratory for analysis and an inquiry will be initiated.
A similar case was seen when nearly 2,000 people suffered from food poisoning after consuming food at a religious event held at a village in Maharashtra's Nanded district. A religious discourse was held under Loha tehsil where locals and people from nearby Sawargaon, Postwadi, Risangaon and Maski villages gathered and consumed food at around 5 pm.
