PAN-Aadhaar linking charge: Rs 1,000 late fee; you may have to pay more if you do it offline
Aadhaar by July 30, 2023, then your PAN must have been classified as 'inoperative'. You can link your PAN with your Aadhaar online by paying a late fee of Rs 1,000.
However, many individuals are not able to link their PAN and Aadhaar online due to some reasons such as different dates of birth in PAN and Aadhaar. In such cases, they have to visit either the Aadhaar enrolment centre to update the Aadhaar or go to a PAN service centre to update the PAN.
«PAN Aadhaar linking has failed due to DOB mismatch. To update your DOB in PAN, please contact Protean at…. Or UTIITSL at…. To update your DOB on your Aadhaar Card please contact UIDAI at…To link again, click here 'Link Aadhaar'. If the linking request still fails, you are advised to avail the option of biometric-based authentication at dedicated centres of PAN Service Providers (Protean and UTIITSL). You should carry your PAN, Aadhaar, Fee paid (of Rs 1000) challan copy and avail the facility after paying requisite biometric authentication charge at the centre ....» said the Income-tax Department in a communication to a taxpayer when his PAN-Aadhaar linking failed.
To make the necessary changes in your PAN or Aadhaar, you have to pay a small fee, depending on the update that needs to be done. Do remember that you also have to pay a penalty of Rs 1,000 to link your PAN and your Aadhaar.
How to update details in Aadhaar?
