Pierce Brosnan faces charges after allegedly hiking off-trail in Yellowstone National Park, specifically in the Mammoth Terraces area. The charges include foot travel in restricted thermal areas and violating park closures, listed as petty offenses in court documents obtained by CNN.
The 70-year-old actor, known for his roles in «007» and "Mamma Mia," was charged on Tuesday for disregarding travel restrictions near thermal features, as detailed in the filings at the US District Court in Wyoming.
Yellowstone's thermal areas contain delicate crusts over scalding water, with the park's website emphasizing the use of designated boardwalks and trails. Safety measures caution against contact with hot spring water, warning of severe or even fatal burns. Recent incidents, such as a drunk man stumbling into off-limits hot springs in August and a visitor placing her hand into a scorching spring captured on video in June, highlight the dangers. Yellowstone has witnessed at least five injuries in these thermal zones in recent years.
Brosnan, reportedly filming segments for «Unholy Trinity» alongside Samuel L. Jackson, is scheduled to appear in federal court in Mammoth Hot Springs, Wyoming, on Jan. 23. While The Post reached out to Brosnan's representatives for comment, there has been no response yet. Notably, this incident marks Brosnan's first encounter with the law.
Interestingly, this news surfaces shortly after an attempt to shame Brosnan's wife, Keely Shaye Smith, through a viral tweet, which backfired as fans rallied in support of the journalist and author.
