Narendra Modi on Thursday said the party was people's most preferred choice for governance as its record of retaining power was better than Congress'.
Speaking at BJP parliamentary party meeting, Modi said not any leader, but 'team spirit', should be credited for the party's big win in the recent polls. He noted that besides the win in three states, BJP's strength grew in Telangana and Mizoram, sources said.
He asked leaders to focus on teamwork in future elections.
Modi asked BJP workers not to add adjectives to his name and use the language relatable with masses. «I'm a small worker.
People think that I am part of their family. Do not add adjectives before or after my name like 'shree', 'adarniya' and 'ji'.
People think of me as Modi,» the PM said.
Talking to reporters, parliamentary affairs minister Pralhad Joshi said Modi pointed to the fact that Congress faced assembly polls 40 times while in power in those states but could win only seven of them, a dismal success rate of 18%.
