The four astronauts are -- Prashanth Balakrishnan Nair, Angad Prathap, Ajit Krishnan, and Shubhanshu Shukla -- Modi said at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) at Thumba near the Kerala state capital. He bestowed 'astronaut wings' to the four.
The Gaganyaan Mission is India's first human space flight program for which extensive preparations are underway at various ISRO centres. Prime Minister Modi, along with ISRO chief S Somanath, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, MoS Muraleedharan also visited Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday.
