BJP's election campaign in Karnataka on March 16, the day on which the Election Commission is scheduled to announce poll dates and schedules.
The PM will address a public rally at Kalaburagi on March 16, Saturday and will again return to the state on March 18 to address another rally at Shivamogga.
The rallies will come close on the heels of the BJP announcing its list of candidates.
Kalaburagi, called Gulbarga earlier, in the backward Kalyana Karnataka region is also the home turf of AICC President Mallikarjuna Kharge. He won from here twice and was a minister in the UPA regime, holding labour and railway portfolios.
Modi's meetings will be the first round of election campaigning after the completion of the party's cluster tour across the state. The party had formed four teams to tour across the state and hold cluster-level meetings.
Both Kalaburagi and Shivamogga are represented in the Lok Sabha by the BJP.
The PM would address these rallies at 2 pm, BJP Karnataka unit general secretary V Sunil Kumar said. The party was preparing to gather two lakh people at each of these rallies, he added.
In the coming days, senior leaders including party president JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, and UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath will also address meetings in other constituencies.
Each of Karnataka's 28 constituencies will see a national leader campaigning for the party candidate as it aims to win all seats, he added. The BJP had won 25 of 28 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
