pran-pratistha’ or the consecration ceremony.
According to several reports, the PM will be following the ‘Yam Rules’ for the rituals. He would be subjecting himself to an 11-day code that includes purifying the mind, body, and soul with meditation, following a rigid ‘sattvic’ diet (a diet that consists of eating pure vegetarian fare and avoiding any food with onion and garlic).
The Prime Minister has been sleeping on the floor, with only a blanket, and drinking coconut water as per reports.
The consecration ceremony of the temple, which started on January 12, will end on January 22. The Prime Minister will perform the ‘pran pratistha’ ceremony. A team of priests led by priest-in-chief Laxmikant Dixit will take over the main rituals.
Several luminaries from the world of business and entertainment such as Harsh Goenka (Chairman of RPG Enterprises), cricketer Virat Kohli, and his wife actress Anushka Sharma, Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor and his wife, National Award-winning actress Alia Bhatt, Telugu stars Ram Charan, Prabhas, Tamil star Rajinikanth etc.
Arun Govil & Deepika Chikhalia, the actors who played Lord Ram and Mata Sita in the hugely popular ‘80s TV series ‘Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan’ will also be present at the ceremony on January 22.
In Sanskrit, the act of ‘pran-pratistha’ means making the idol ‘come alive.’ This is a symbolic ritual done before installing an idol in the temple.
Termed Ram-Lalla, the idol, which is carved in fine black stone, depicts Lord Ram, the central deity in Hinduism, at the age of five years.
The ceremony will be witnessed by 11,000 guests all across the world.
