skilling plan ended, the government is yet to roll out the fourth phase of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana. The draft of the scheme is awaiting nod from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). The PMKVY3.0 officially ended in March 2022 but due to Covid-led delays, training under the scheme carried on for a few months into 2022-23.
«PMKVY 2.0 and PMKVY 3.0 have been closed and no training is undergoing at present,» said PMKVY official website. The ministry of skills development and entrepreneurship (MSDE) is in discussions with the PMO on the revamped PMKVY 4.0 and has made detailed presentations on proposed changes to the scheme. «The PMO wants the scheme to be outcome oriented so that the trained candidates get placed,» a senior official, familiar with the development, told ET, requesting not to be identified.
Previous track record of placement under PMKVY has been dismal and the PMO wants this issue in the scheme corrected. «Status quo in the scheme is not acceptable,» the official said. An email to the PMO did not elicit any response until press time.
