Bakrid and Jyeshtha Ganga Dussehra, the police in Noida and Greater Noida have announced the implementation of restrictions under Section 144 of the CrPC from Sunday to Wednesday. These measures are aimed at ensuring peace and harmony during the festive period.
Ganga Dussehra is set to be celebrated on Sunday, while Bakrid will be observed on both Sunday and Monday. The police order prohibits public prayers, worship, processions, and other religious events in public spaces without special permission.
Additional DCP Hirdesh Katheriya emphasized the need for these measures due to the potential threat posed by anti-social elements disrupting peace. The order also highlights the risks of protests from various groups and emphasizes preventing any activities that could create an adverse environment.
The restrictions include limitations on large unlawful assemblies, unauthorized drone use near government offices, and the use of loudspeakers beyond permissible limits, especially between 10 pm and 6 am. Activities not customary at disputed sites and the accumulation of certain materials in open areas or on rooftops are also banned.
Violations of the order will be punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code. The order will remain in effect from June 16 to 19, across the entire Gautam Buddh Nagar Commissionerate, with any further orders from the Uttar Pradesh government modifying relevant points as necessary.
