Siddaramaiah on Tuesday said it was difficult to go by everyone’s suggestion on appointments to boards and corporations amid hectic lobbying by local Congress leaders to get pricey positions and growing discontent over delay in appointments.
“It is difficult to get everyone’s suggestion,” the CM replied to the media when queried about Home Minister G Parameshwara statement that the delay had occurred as some of them had not been consulted. “I have spoken to him,” Siddaramaiah said in a bid to put speculation to rest.
Deputy CM DK Shivakumar told the media that the guidelines for these appointments had been evolved only after consultations with party leaders, and power-sharing would happen based on that.
Siddaramaiah said there had not been any issues related to the list of MLAs cleared for these political appointments. However, he hinted that there were issues in respect of other party leaders recommended for appointment.
AICC general secretary RS Surjewala, DK Shivakumar and himself had a detailed chat before finalising the list.
“We have no more role now,” as they have submitted the list to AICC general secretary (organization) KC Venugopal and they were waiting for the list to come back with the leadership’s approval.
Parameshwar told the media that he had headed the party state unit for eight years and had intimate knowledge of people who had been working at grassroots level for the party. “We must share power with them.
If those who have not worked get power, it would disappoint those who had been working sincerely. That is why we must listen to the opinions of leaders in districts,” he said.
The exercise has been consuming time as there have been disagreements between the Delhi leadership and Karnataka leaders
