Prince Harry has taken a subtle jab at King Charles while discussing the controversial 2021 Oprah interview in his memoir «Spare». He highlighted the difference between his and Meghan Markle's openness and the Royal Family's traditional use of anonymous sources.
Harry stated, “We were upfront about it. I told them that I failed to see how speaking to Oprah was any different from what my family and their staff had done for decades – briefing the press on the sly, planting stories.” He pointed out King Charles’ 1994 collaboration with Jonathan Dimbleby and Camilla’s dealings with editor Geordie Greig.
Emphasizing his stance on royal media tactics, Harry added, “The only difference was that Meg and I were upfront about it. We didn’t once hide behind phrases like ‘Palace sources’… We let people see the words coming out of our mouths.” He clearly contrasts their approach with the Palace’s behind-the-scenes strategies.
