Department Q is currently underway. The cast has been revealed, and production is in progress in Edinburgh.
Department Q's series adaptation has been in development since 2014, when the US TV rights for adapting the series have been sold to Scott Frank who is the principal creator of the series. It was reported in the year 2020 that Left Bank Pictures owned by Sony would be producing Department Q.
Frank is well known for his work on his two previous original projects on Netflix which are The Queen's Gambit and Godless. Monsieur, his latest project at present will be aired on AMC.

The main cast of Department Q was disclosed on February 6th, 2024. Besides the revelation of the cast, the descriptions and names of the roles were also announced by Netflix. The other cast members who are confirmed for Department Q are Shirley Henderson as Clare Marsh, Kate Dickie as Moira, Mark Bonnar as Stephen, and James Sives as DS Hardy.
Netflix has made the confirmation that Department Q will be having eight episodes, each episode having a runtime of 60 minutes.
Production of Department Q is at present in progress in Edinburgh, Scotland. The exact filming dates are not yet disclosed.
