Gaurishankar Kalyani, brother of Baba Kalyani, has filed an affidavit in the Pune Civil Court challenging the execution of his late mother Sulochana Kalyani's 2012 will. Gaurishankar produced a new will dated December 9, 2022, containing several serious accusations against Baba Kalyani.
In the affidavit, the late Sulochana reportedly wrote Baba had taken control of most of the family's wealth, leaving her and her husband, Neelkanth Kalyani, with a small portion. «Between 1992 and 1994, Baba seized control of several companies, including Bharat Forge and Kalyani Steels, from my husband. After 1994, we were left with only a small share of the wealth my husband had built,» affidavit states.
Gaurishankar's affidavit responds to affidavits filed by Madan Takale and Shrikrishna Adivarekar seeking probate of Sulochana's 2012 will. The case is set to be heard in Pune on October 9, 2024.
In August, Gaurishankar's son, Viraj, sought probate of Sulochana's 2022 will. This new document, signed months before her passing, has strong allegations against her eldest son, Baba Kalyani, the chairman and MD of Bharat Forge.
Sulochana and Neelkanth had three children-Baba, Gaurishankar, and Sugandha. As per her will, the couple decided to ensure Gaurishankar and his family's financial security by gifting the remaining wealth to him in 2007.
