Pune faced a double robbery when he was first robbed of his cellphone by a person whom he offered a lift on his bike, and later lost his motorcycle to another person who offered to help him approach the police to report the initial robbery The victim, who had recently moved to Pune for a job, was unfamiliar with the city. On July 20, he was returning home from work when a man around 25 years old asked for some cash, claiming he needed to travel back to Buldhana.
After lending him Rs 500 through a UPI transaction, the victim allowed the man to use his cellphone for a call. However, the stranger made a swift escape, leaving the victim stranded.
Disoriented and seeking help, the victim encountered another unidentified man who offered to assist him by claiming to know officers at Bhosari police station. This second man persuaded the victim to get cigarettes for a supposed officer, but as soon as the victim left for the stall, the man fled with his motorcycle.
Realizing the theft of Rs 3,000 from his bank account, transferred by the first robber through a UPI transaction, the victim lodged a complaint with the Bhosari police station on Tuesday. A case of criminal breach of trust has been registered, and the police are examining CCTV camera footage to identify the suspects involved in this unfortunate double robbery.
