The 'Shree Mandir Parikrama,' also known as the Jagannath Heritage Corridor Project, at Odisha's Puri's Lord Jagannath temple is set to be inaugurated on January 17. This initiative, completed by the Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation (OBCC) and handed over to the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), aims to enhance the visual appeal and surroundings of the iconic Jagannath Temple. Though no changes have been made in the temple, the area within the 75-metre corridor of the boundary wall of the Jagannath temple has been developed to enhance the infrastructural aspects around the temple. The inauguration comes just five days ahead of the Ram temple coronation
Inauguration: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to inaugurate the project on January 17 while the final offering (prunahuti) wlll be made by Puri Gajapati Maharaj Divyasingha Deb. The three-day yagna (ritual) started from today.
Invitees: Representatives from 90 religious shrines and institutions across the country have been invited to attend the inauguration on January 17.
When it will be open for public: Following the inauguration, the 'parikrama' (circumambulation) will be open to the general public.
Project cost and other details: The project, valued at Rs 3,700 crore, includes sub-projects like the redevelopment of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration building, Srimandir reception center, Jagannath cultural center, Badadanda heritage streetscape, beachfront development, Puri Lake, and Musa river revival plan.
