A passenger who boarded the train at Puri noticed the missing chains after departure, prompting commotion among fellow travelers.
The ticket collector acted promptly, attaching an additional compartment for the affected passengers at Bhubaneswar railway station.
Narrating the ordeal, a passenger told news agency ANI: «I was traveling from Puri and had boarded the Puri-Hatia Express at 8:45 pm. As I prepared to sleep, I discovered that the middle berth chains were missing from the S-6 compartment.
Passengers started to panic, and we informed the ticket collector, resulting in the attachment of a new compartment at Bhubaneswar railway station.»
Ashoka Kumar Mishra, CPRO of East Coast Railway (ECoR), informed ANI that the incident was reported, and an investigation is underway to determine how the chains went missing. «A separate coach was attached at Bhubaneswar station.
The matter is under investigation to find out how the chains went missing,» he said.
