Congress and BJP traded charges on Thursday after ED summoned Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot’s son and raided the state PCC chief. While Gehlot termed ED actions “politically motivated aimed at unleashing terror ahead of polls”, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge attacked the Centre and BJP over the ED actions.
BJP launched a counterattack, with Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat accusing the state government of creating a new benchmark of corruption.
Gehlot was on the forefront of mobilising Congress protests when ED summoned and questioned Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi last year. However, the Gandhis had not commented on the ED actions till press time.
Gehlot posted on X: “Date 25/10/23, launch of Congress guarantees for women of Rajasthan; Date 26/10/23, ED raid at Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singhji Dotasara … You can understand the summons to my son… ED’s red rose is happening because BJP does not want women, farmers and poor in Rajasthan to get the benefit of guarantees given by Congress.”

Countering, Shekhawat said at BJP briefing here: “The Gehlot government has broken all records of corruption.
