Rajinikanth's latest film 'Jailer' has hit it out of the park at the worldwide box-office. On the sixth day since its release on August 10, the movie has breached the Rs 400 crore-mark, globally, according to film trade analysts Manobala Vijayabalan and Ramesh Bala. 'Jailer' earned Rs 64.27 crore on Independence Day (Day 6), taking its worldwide total to Rs 416.19 crore.
On Day 1 (release day), the movie made its highest box-office collection of Rs 95.78 crore. The extended weekend proved beneficial for the film as it earned Rs 56.24 crore on Day 2 (Friday), Rs 68.51 crore on Day 3 (Saturday), and Rs 82.36 crore on Day 4 (Sunday). It collected Rs 49.03 crore on Day 5 (Monday).
Manobala said that the Ranjinikanth-starrer is the fifth entrant to the elite Rs 400 crore club after '2.0', 'Ponniyin Selvan', 'Kabali' and 'Vikram', creating history in Tamil cinema. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, 'Jailer' successfully crossed the Rs 300 cr-mark, globally, in its opening weekend and grossed Rs 100 crore in just two days since its release. The movie was a massive success in South India where it earned most of its revenues from.
It also performed well in certain Hindi markets such as Delhi, Mumbai, Gujarat and Punjab. Rajinikanth, who has a massive fan following in various countries around the world such as the USA, Canada, Europe, the UK, UAE, the Gulf states, Malaysia, Australia, Sri Lanka and Indonesia, has worked his charm worldwide. The movie has also had a good run in the US with nearly $113,195.
