Mohammed Abdullah, a 19-year-old, assaulted an 18-year-old woman in Aberdeen. Abdullah assaulted the woman as she exited the Prohibition bar in the city center.
The rapist who sexually assaulted the woman prompting his victim to chase him, has now been sentenced to seven years in prison.
During the trial last month, it was revealed that he forcibly seized her by the wrists, restraining her before committing the rape.
The presiding judge informed Abdullah that he would be registered as a sex offender for life.
Following the attack, the woman initiated pursuit, but Abdullah swiftly fled and navigated the neighboring streets in the heart of Aberdeen city. Investigators discovered CCTV footage from a vicinity near the site where the sexual assault occurred.
During the September trial, jurors were presented with the footage, and they could audibly hear a woman's distressing screams.
Additionally, they were shown video evidence of the woman repositioning her attire shortly after the assault, followed by her pursuit of the assailant.
Upon apprehending Abdullah, law enforcement officers observed that he was unable to communicate in English. After confiscating his mobile phone, they discovered video content featuring young women dancing on the street outside a nightclub.
Abdullah, characterized as an inmate at YOI Polmont in Stirling, has been found guilty by the jury of a single count of rape.
